FIA Confirms WRC Rally Cars To Run Naturally Aspirated - Turbochargers Banned

Antara kesan krisis ekonomi global..

With auto manufacturers turning to forced induction as the method to increase power and engine efficiency, the World Motorsports Council (WMC) has passed a new regulation that will ban turbochargers on WRC rally cars from 2011 onwards. This will leave aero mods as the only alteration left to be made to the already heavily modified S2000 rally car.

Besides the cars being naturally aspirated from 2011onwards; from 2013, in a decision proposed by the World Rallies Commission of the FIA and also ratified by the WSMC, the cars will run "cost-effective" 1.6-liter turbocharged engines.

While the regulations have driven industry stalwart Subaru out of the WRC, they could open the door to other manufacturers such as Peugeot, Skoda, Abarth, and our very own Proton (stand proud) who already run S2000 cars in the WRC-rival Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
